Baptism Sunday

Baptism-Oct-4

Hope Church will be having its first baptism service on Sunday, October 4th! Baptism is an important step in the life of every Christ-follower. Jesus himself was baptized by John the Baptist at the very beginning of his ministry, and he has commanded that all of his followers should also be baptized:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spiritand teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Baptism is the symbolic act of a believer’s passage from death in sin to new life in Christ. The Christian & Missionary Alliance perspective on baptism puts it this way: “Immersion in the baptismal waters symbolizes the end of the old way of life. Coming up out of the baptismal waters pictures the new life found in Christ. The person who was previously dead in sin has been made spiritually alive by the same power that raised up Jesus from the grave.” Regardless of when a believer is baptized, it is an important milestone in his or her journey with Jesus.

If you are a parent whose child has talked about baptism, we are happy to participate with you in this important step in their faith. Please make sure that your child can articulate the significance of baptism.
