Yogi has been married to Joy for 38 years. They both grew up near Mansfield, OH. They have four children: twins, Christopher and Amber and two more sons, Scot and Ryan. Yogi and Joy’s kids have blessed them with 6 grandchildren that Yogi loves to spoil rotten and then send back home. With one son soon to be married (September 2015), the potential for more spoiled grandkiddos remains high.
Yogi graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago with a BA degree in Pastoral Training with an emphasis in Greek. To complete his degree work at Moody, he also attended Fort Wayne Bible College, Indiana/Purdue University in South Bend, and The Ohio State University.
Softball has been near and dear to Yogi’s heart since he graduated from high school in 1973. He continues to make it around the bases (much more slowly) in the 60+ league in the Columbus area. A few other hobbies are riding road bike, reading and watching college football and basketball whenever it’s on.
Hope Church is the fourth church Yogi and Joy have had the blessing to serve as pastor and wife. They spent four years in Edgerton, OH (1982-86) and three years in Fort Myers, FL (2011-14). The years in between were spent near Mansfield (1989-2011) where God used them to grow one small congregation into three: North Woodbury Alliance in northern Morrow County, Heartland in Lexington and NewLife in Fredericktown. Yogi and Joy moved to the Columbus area in September, 2014 to begin a new work, which has resulted in Hope Church.
